Hi friends. I have so much more to say on the aspect of self love. For those of you who know me personally, you’ll know I have recently had a mindfulness awakening. I no longer live, breathe, or sleep for other people. I hope that today’s lesson helps you realize how much you, alone, are worth.

Often times we fall into pleasing other people. Not only that, but we can lose sight of ourselves in the process. This morning, as I walked around my beautiful family home, I realized how much I do love myself. I cleaned this house by myself, for myself. I took my dogs outside and let them breathe in the fresh air for as long as they wanted to. I think they know I needed it too. I brewed my single cup of coffee and sat down at my desk that I decorated, and I took a deep breath. I am, for the first time in 23 years, living life for me. I will no longer give my time and energy to situations or people who don’t fulfill me. I advise you all to do the same, but it is a hard process. I want to clue you in to how I did it, and help you along the way.

You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. – Buddha

The first step to self love is acceptance which we discussed here. Self acceptance is often harder to accomplish than accepting others. We tend to be so much harder on ourselves than anyone else in our lives. Why is that? My theory is you know yourself better than anyone else. You know all that you are capable of, and when you let yourself down it’s a bigger blow than somebody else letting you down. What I want to remind you is you alone are capable of changing your world. You alone have the power to make yourself endlessly happy. If we can’t give ourselves unconditional love, nobody can. At the end of the day we are most able to count on ourselves. Even if you don’t think you are able to fully love yourself, you can take baby steps every single day to get there. Personal growth is a beautiful thing. It will take a long time and a lot of healing. Healing, as we know, is the hardest part. I always say healing as an adult is like reopening an old, scabbed-over wound. It hurts and it might bleed but you have to do it so that this time it can heal properly with beautiful, new skin. This week I am going to link a self love meditation. Thank you for reading & watching friends!
